Princess was set to go to the abattoir but sneaked into the box with pacha. She is a big mare and could not possibly hide behind him, so gave herself up on arrival. We could see why she was no longer wanted. She has had a long time of neglect and is very low in health and spirit. The first thing you notice is how extremely thin she is, almost the worst I have seen, she has swelling along her back from a badly fitting saddle, a two foot scar along the side of her stomach, and a melanoma under her tail.

It has taken several weeks to achieve a strong wish to live. She has always eaten well but would not connect with anyone and generally did not seem bothered with what went on. She has had her teeth done, been wormed and is on a very good diet to gradually put on the weight she much needs. Her back is now better and she is starting to enjoy life. Her routine is good and she is now looking forward to each part of her day.

The turning point for princess was when she first had reiki. When the treatment was started, she suddenly stopped eating, and went into a dreamy state for some minutes. She next turned round and nudged my shoulder gently.. moved herself backwards into a position that would treat her shoulder. She obviously felt this was needed and went again into her dreamlike state. Once the reiki was finished, she immediately went back to eating as if nothing had happened. After this, she was a much brighter happier horse and started showing her character. Feed time is now a kick of the gate. What a lovely sound.

Princess will be a beautiful looking horse with more weight and is by the famous Louella Gandolpho. She would love a home with someone who wanted to spend a lot to time looking after her, as she has realized that she loves attention and adoring humans
